The issue of portability needs more attention as a result of increasing labor mobility. This study aims to analyze the relationship between labor mobility and social insurance participation in Indonesia. This study use binary logistic regression analysis on Sakernas data of August 2023. The results show that workers who moved geographically or moved to another job are less likely to have social insurance than workers who didn’t move. Workers who moved between provinces between regions have a higher risk of losing social insurance than workers who moved between provinces within region. Workers who moved to the construction sector have the highest risk of losing social insurance. Workers who moved to become white collar have the smallest risk of losing social insurance compared to the risk of losing social insurance of workers who moved to gray collar or blue collar. The risk of losing social insurance of moved workers is caused by the requirement to re-register or update data. Occupation, employment sector, infrastructure, geographical conditions, company policies and lack of information as well as deliberate factor can affect workers’ decision to do this process. These findings show that social insurance in Indonesia are less portable.
