Development and conflict are two distinct yet interrelated elements within society. Although development is generally associated with positive progress, the process can also generate negative consequences in the form of social conflict. Conversely, social conflict may trigger responses that promote further development, particularly in addressing inequalities or systemic issues. Post-conflict recovery efforts are therefore essential. Several key aspects can accelerate these efforts, including security and basic needs, economic recovery, social cohesion and justice, governance and legal frameworks, and community empowerment. Furthermore, markets can be defined in two categories: traditional markets and modern markets. Accordingly, this study aims to examine the function of markets as catalysts in post-conflict social recovery efforts, both in traditional and modern contexts. This research employs a literature review method. The findings indicate that markets function as catalysts in post-conflict recovery efforts, both in traditional and modern contexts. This is attributed to several key functions of markets, including their roles as gathering spaces for diverse visitors, venues for communication with various interaction styles, sites of trade and economic exchange, platforms for community empowerment, centers of economic activity, and arenas for social contribution.
